More about the role:

Based in our Auckland office and reporting to the Head of Product Development – NZ, this role leads the development and commercialisation of new infant nutrition and nutritional powder products, along with the maintenance and optimisation of the existing portfolio. As a senior member of the Product Development team, you will also manage and mentor one direct report.

You will play a critical role in delivering technically robust, regulatory-compliant, and commercially viable products that support our growth across local and global markets.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the end-to-end technical development and delivery of new product innovations, reformulations, and cost optimisation projects within infant nutrition and nutritional powders.
• Providing formulation leadership, technical guidance, and strategic input into technical briefs that align with market needs, regulatory requirements, and cost targets.
• Directing ingredient sourcing in collaboration with Quality, Regulatory, and Procurement teams to ensure compliance and readiness.
• Overseeing the development and approval of ingredient listings, Nutrition Information Panels (NIPs), artwork inputs, and finished product specifications.
• Identifying product development risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
• Supporting shelf-life validation, product trials, testing, and scale-up activities across manufacturing sites.
• Leading or contributing to product development efforts at other company manufacturing locations as needed.

About you:

You are a highly experienced product development professional with a strong track record in infant nutrition and dairy-based powders. You bring both technical depth and leadership strength, with the ability to drive innovation, ensure compliance, and mentor others in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• 7–10 years of experience in the formulation, development, and delivery of dairy-based infant nutrition and nutritional powder products across multiple markets (essential).
• A tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related scientific field.
• Demonstrated leadership or coaching experience within a technical team environment.
• Proven expertise in ingredient functionality, formulation development, new technology application, and production scale-up.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a proactive approach to resolving technical challenges.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders effectively.
